If you’ve ever felt nervous and unprepared to go through pregnancy, and care for your new baby and yourself postpartum, you’re not alone.

Every week I work with people, just like you, who are dealing with the exact same concerns:

  • Wondering what is appropriate to do/eat/etc. during pregnancy and not knowing where to find evidence-based real life guidance
  • Stress around what actions to take (and when!) during pregnancy to prepare for labor/delivery, logistics of baby (feedings, items needed), and caring for baby and yourself postpartum
  • Feeling lost around all things baby- eating, sleeping, norms, routines, and when to relax and when to be concerned
  • Lack of knowledge around how to prepare for the huge adjustment of adding a baby to your family, and what steps to take ahead of time and postpartum to care for parents' mental health
  • Any and all of the questions- What pacifier is best if I'm breastfeeding?  How do I travel with my baby?  Do I need to supplement vitamin D?  How do I get her to sleep out of my arms?

If you can relate to any of the above, I can help you through these steps, questions, and anxieties, so that you can take this next step calmly and confidently.

As long as you have the desire to prepare for this transition, I can provide you support in motherhood.

But before I get into that, allow me to introduce myself…

⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎

Hi, I’m Olivia

I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner, former newborn night nurse, and mom of three, who specializes in helping women make the transition to motherhood.

As a fellow mom who’s walked the path of pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and early parenting three times, I understand how overwhelming and exhilarating this journey can be. Coupled with my education and professional experience, as a perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum)-mental health certified provider and a former newborn night nurse, I am well suited to provide the support you need to move through and ENJOY this time.

My Journey Into Providing Support for Motherhood Started Back In 2014...

when I was working toward my Masters in Nursing.  I began working as a newborn night nurse, taking care of newborns in their homes overnight while their parents slept and/or between feedings if they were breastfeeding, and providing education and support for the new parents.  I realized that caring for these newborn babies, and supporting and educating their parents about their care brought me so much joy.  Then, I started working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and focused solely on this clinical work and teaching for many years.

And One Day, Something Amazing Happened…

A couple years into having my own practice, I realized that the patients I most enjoyed seeing were those who became pregnant and/or postpartum while I was treating them.  While working with this population, I realized that much of what they were struggling with was answers and support around pregnancy-related topics, anxiety about birth and the unexpected aspects of postpartum, and baby care.  Unfortunately, educating them about some of these topics does not fit neatly into my role as their psychiatric provider.

At the same time, my sisters, friends, and myself were having babies, and I found myself feeling so happy and passionate when I was able to help someone make a decision during pregnancy, talk through something they were struggling with, or simply suggest a type of bottle or sleep sack.  At one point, a loved one told me that she "would not have been able to do postpartum" without me, and I knew that providing this type of support is how I wanted to use my passion in the next stage of my career.

This Is Why I’m Writing To You Today

I am now able to use my professional knowledge and experience, coupled with my personal experience of helping many new parents, and my own experience as a parent of three to provide widespread education and support to new parents all over the globe.  Aside from being with my family, there is nothing that makes me happier than talking with an expecting parent about pregnancy or labor and delivery, talking through baby gear, helping parents-to-be complete postpartum planning, or educating around all things baby.

I have spent the time and energy gaining professional education and experience, researching guidelines and professional societies high and low, Googling anything you will ever think to Google, and learning through personal experience, so that you do not need to invest this same time and energy and can focus on your journey to becoming a parent.  I am thrilled to be your support in motherhood.

HERE’S A GLIMPSE INTO WHAT WORKING WITH ME ONE ON ONE WILL LOOK LIKE

PREGNANCY: 35 WEEKS

Week 1 is all about getting to know you and your preferences.

The aim is to start building a relationship, and for me to learn about you and your family, your preferences, and your concerns and knowledge gaps.

By the end of this week, you will:

  • communicate to me what is important to you over the remainder of your pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum
  • have an idea of what we will work on together to prepare for baby's arrival
  • know what you need to have done and be thinking about over the next couple weeks

PREGNANCY: 38 WEEKS

Week 4 is all about creating a postpartum plan.

The aim is to get you thinking about how you would like things to go in the early postpartum days, and start taking steps to achieve this.

By the end of this week, you will:

  • know what you think will be most important to you in those first few weeks
  • learn how to communicate these preferences and boundaries to those around you
  • have a draft of a written postpartum plan

POSTPARTUM: WITHIN 1 WEEK

Week 6 is all about YOU- checking in on you and your wellbeing in those first few days (because waiting 6 weeks for a postpartum appointment is way. too. long.)

The aim is for you to have a safe space to share your worries, successes, and wtf's, and make a plan for anything that we can target together.

By the end of this week, you will:

  • feel heard and supported
  • have shared your concerns and received support and education around anything you or baby (i.e. is this normal, afterbirth pains, sleep, feeding tips, swaddling, etc.).
  • have an idea of whether your postpartum plan needs adjusting, and how you and your support system can take steps to achieve your plan
